Soā¦what now? Letās check in as we decorate the tree, light candles, and reflect on the deep connections that bind us.
For too many in our community, the holidays are marked by grief and loss, especially those impacted by police violence. On this last day ofĀ National Grief Awareness Week,Ā weāre reminded of the immense tragedies weāve facedātoo many lives taken too soon, leaving scars that are hard to heal.
As we honor those weāve lost, letās take action where the government wonāt. This work is far from over, and we need you now more than ever.
OurĀ Home for the HolidaysĀ campaign continues, and weāre asking you to use assets from ourĀ partner toolkitĀ to share our Right Response directory, a vital tool for navigating crises without police involvement. We want to make sure no one else has to mourn a loved one lost to a system that fails us. This is about protecting each other and keeping our communities safe.
We also encourage you toĀ donate by December 31stĀ to support our work and fund life-saving alternatives to police response. Your contributionāwhether personal or through your employerāhelps us reach our goal of $5,000 by the end of the year. Itās time to act before the year ends and take advantage of tax benefits while reducing harm in our communities.
Together, we wonāt forget those weāve lostātheir stories drive us to work towards real systemic change and healthier futures.
“The success of every woman should be an inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re courageous, be strong, be extremely kind, and above all, be humble.”
ā Serena Williams

A Mental Health Tip For You!
When it comes to your mental health, weāre all about giving you the tips, support, and guidance you need to take care of yourself while tackling everything the world throws at you. As we navigate grief and the stress of the holiday season, we want to share a resource that might help you.
Black Girls BreathingĀ is an online community focused on supporting the mental health of Black women. With a pledge to get you committed to your mental health, a mental health checklist to keep you accountable, and a community to add to the support you have along the way, this might be just the thing to help and uplift you.
Spread Some Blessings!
The consequences of police violence extend far beyond the loss of life. For families affected, itās the loss of income, the sacrifice of basic necessities, and the start of a high-cost legal fight. If you have the capacity, consider donating to 1M4. Proceeds help support impacted families and sustain the work of 1M4 toward ending police violence for good.
