This photo of Dr. King has been a favorite of mine for years.
And the longer I work in community organizing and social justice… the more often I make this exact face.
There is a lot happening around us. A LOT.
Things that ultimately impact each of us and I don’t like the direction we’re headed. (honestly, it’s been this way for a long time; it’s just now very much in our faces 24/7)
So, the women of 1M4 are committed to doing our part to stop the harm aimed at the Black community.
Here’s how you can help:
First, we have to prove that the work we have done thus far is valuable and helping to save lives.
Here’s what we need from you:
1) If you have used or shared our National Mobile Crisis Guide for non-police mental health emergency response, reply to this message and let us know how the guide was helpful . Provide a brief story about your experience with the response team. We will not share your name publicly. We are working to determine the usefulness and reach of the guide so we can improve it and reach more people.
We would love to hear your stories and experiences after using the guide.
2) If you are, or know, a Black woman looking for community to share openly and transparently, tomorrow night we will host our Sista Checkin.
No need to register in advance. Just show up. Come as you are and prepare to be in space with like minded, solution focused, care centered Black women across the country.
This is a great time to meet some of the members of 1M4 and just be fully yourself with people who “get it.”
Join our email list to get call in details for the checkin starting at 9pm EST/ 8pm CST/ 6pm PST
