1 Million Madly Motivated Moms, with support from Players Coalition, launches the Right Response Directory, providing alternatives to traditional law enforcement response to mental health crises.

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 18, 2024 – Today, 1 Million Madly Motivated Moms (1M4), a public safety and mental health non-profit organization, announced The Right Response Directory, a first-of-its-kind, free, national crisis resource providing alternatives to traditional law enforcement response to mental health crises.

As part of 1M4’s work to foster a culture of empathy, understanding, and non-violence, the Right Response Directory seeks to inspire nationwide shifts in crisis response and raise awareness for and expand access to localized, community-based services to facilitate a safer path for individuals and communities dealing with crises.

“At the heart of the Right Response Directory is both a statement and a question: Criminalized response to mental health is not the right response, but what is?” said Tansy McNulty, 1M4’s founder and CEO. “1M4 is an organization of Black maternal figures on a mission to reduce harm, avoid over-incarceration in the Black community, and end police violence in the U.S. by 2038. Our inspiration behind creating the Right Response Directory is to reduce law enforcement interactions for those needing a health-centered response.”

The Right Response Directory was created with support from Players Coalition, an advocacy organization working with professional athletes, coaches and owners across sports leagues to improve social justice and racial equality. “Traditional police response is not always the most suitable or safest option for those facing mental health crises in all communities,” said Anquan Boldin, Players Coalition co-founder and Former Super Bowl champion. “By using the Right Response Directory, communities across America can identify the best local crisis response options and focus on getting the care needed for loved ones.”

Included in the Right Response Directory are 213+ local response organizations and mobile crisis teams for mental health, behavioral health, and substance use emergencies as an alternative to traditional police response across 42 U.S. states and territories – and counting! Following community interaction with these organizations, 1M4 is looking to receive feedback on response experience and effectiveness. Additionally, with the release of the directory, 1M4 is requesting additional organization inclusions to better serve all communities in the U.S. Organizations and supporters can submit additional crisis response solutions to be added to the Right Response directory at therightresponse.co
