Spring is coming, but so are more injustices and threats to our safety.
The new administration has already moved to delete the National Law Enforcement Accountability Database—the only federal record tracking officer misconduct.
Without it, there’s even less accountability, even more risk, and an even greater need for us to protect ourselves from police violence.
That’s why we’re doubling down on what we’ve always known: our safety is in our hands. We must shield the village as best we can.
Because it really does take a village. No one should have to navigate a crisis alone, and no one should be left without the resources to stay safe.
When we organize, share life-saving information, and look out for one another, we create the kind of protection that no administration can erase.
Are you ready to make a commitment to our own?
This year, we’re calling on 150 people to lead as 1M4 Ambassadors across the country. Ambassadors will help host gatherings, lead conversations, and bring our crisis response, harm prevention tools directly to the people who need them most in your backyard.
Interested in standing up for and with your local community? Sign up now to become a 1M4 Ambassador. We will train and equip you with all you need to be a trusted, informed voice for your people.
We (and your local community) just need your “yes!”

Your Expertise is Needed!
We’re completely revamping The Right Response Directory and need your input to ensure it meets our community’s needs.
This critical resource connects you to alternative first-response programs offering compassionate support through peer responders, clinicians, and trained EMTs for calls like welfare checks, noise complaints, traffic incidents, and mental health crises.
Your feedback is vital for us to improve. Please take a few minutes to complete our confidential survey. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
What We Did
White House
Now, the new administration has deleted the database—erasing key safeguards that helped keep law enforcement accountable. This is beyond troubling and dangerous, but we will continue to push for transparency and accountability. If you know where the collected NLEAD data went, holla at us. Hit reply.
Luckily we saved the White House fact sheet prior to the current administration deleting it and removing the page. See link below.
We keep receipts. Period.

A Mental Health Tip For You!
You spend so much time caring for others—it’s time to care for yourself, too. Whether you’re a mom, a caretaker, or the one everyone depends on, rest isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.
Throughout the week, set aside 10 minutes or more a day for a “do-nothing” break. Put your phone on silent, step away from the to-do lists, and let yourself exist without demands. No planning, no problem-solving. Just breathe, take a nap, stare out the window, or sit in stillness.
Rest doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. The time to pause is now because you deserve care just as much as you give it.

Moment of Silence
We could not let this day pass without honoring the legendary Black women we lost this past week. The deaths of Grammy winning singer Roberta Flack, Civil Rights Leader Hazel “Ma Dukes”, and NeoSoul pioneer/Grammy nominated singer Angie Stone
Our hearts hurt but we are so grateful for the contributions these women made with their lives and gifts. Thank you.
Fly high, Sistas.

We know the road ahead won’t be easy. The next four years will demand our strength, voices, and resilience. But before we pour into the work, we have to pour into ourselves.
Rest is not a retreat—it’s a strategy. As we shake off the winter slump and step into what’s next, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you don’t have to carry it all alone.
Lean on us, your community, and the resources that are here to support you—like our directory, filled with response teams to help you navigate whatever comes next. Rest now, because this is a marathon, not a sprint.
Rest now, because you deserve it. Rest now, because we need you whole and well for the journey ahead.
Spread Some Blessings!
The consequences of police violence extend far beyond the loss of life. For families affected, it’s the loss of income, the sacrifice of basic necessities, and the start of a high-cost legal fight. If you have the capacity, consider donating to 1M4. Proceeds help support impacted families and sustain the work of 1M4 toward ending police violence for good.

The Mental Health Literacy Collaborative (MHLC) has officially launched its MHL Aware Certification Training.
Mental Health Literacy (MHL) Aware is a 60-minute training (with an optional certification) that benefits professional, personal, and community needs for knowledge, language, and confidence around the topic of mental health. This training is the first step in guiding people to successfully integrate MHL into the fabric of their community. The Aware training focuses on educating individuals about 1) What MHL is, 2) Why it is beneficial, and 3) How they can bring this information to their community. In addition to these core focus areas, the training provides basic, real-world application strategies. The cost is $30 per person for live trainings and $25 for the asynchronous course. Group rates are also available by contacting info@themhlc.org.
