Let the record be known that we are not here to guilt-shame anybody’s mama, auntie, or grandmama over splurging on Black Friday. Because chances are, we were right there with her.

But what we ARE here to do is make those shopping trips feel even sweeter. How? By topping them off with a donation you can feel good about and your partner won’t side-eye you over. (We know they’re still asking you whether or not those TikTok pants were necessary.)

A donation to 1M4.

With Tuesday being Giving Tuesday, donating to our organization is the perfect way to celebrate and participate in generosity by giving back not just to any community but your community. The Black community. (Psst: if you’re an ally, we still stand by what we said! You know you’re invited to the cookout.)

With every donation to 1M4, no matter how small or big, you help put woman power behind our forces, give financial relief to families impacted by police violence, and create more resources to help spread the word and build the tools we need to create a more safe world. Nobody can side-eye that.

“The cost of liberty is less than the price of repression.”

Case Update on Atatiana Jefferson

The City of Fort Worth TX proposed a settlement of $3.5M to Atatiana’s nephew, Zion. We personally think they owe the family so much more financially especially given Atatiana’s sister, Amber, transitioned in January of this year, leaving behind sons, Zion and Zayden.

This family has been through years of pain and loss. We’re hopeful that a settlement is reached to provide a form of closure.

Legislative Policies to Watch:

Massachusetts H. 1752

This bill lifts the max compensation for those wrongfully convicted and provides exonerees with $5K immediately upon release.

“The legislation would lift a million-dollar cap on compensation for wrongfully convicted people, connect them with support services and provide a $5,000 check immediately upon release”

Holiday seasons are hard on impacted families. Those who have lost family members to death by officer and those whose family members are wrongfully incarcerated.

Each year we are hopeful for the freedom of Terrence Richardson, Ferrone Claiborne and Marlon Howell. But what happens after their release. We hope they are compensated for the years stolen.

However some states have a max on what can be paid each year:

For the exonerated, compensation is a battle for stability and dignity

A Mental Health Tip For You!

When it comes to uplifting your mental health, we’re committed to giving you tips, support, and guidance on how to take care of you while you help us take on the world. So, as we head into the thick of the holiday season, here’s a resource we think can help you manage an often overwhelming time.

Black Girls Breathing is an online community focused on supporting the mental health of Black women. With a pledge to get you committed to your mental health, a mental health checklist to keep you accountable, and a community to add to the support you have along the way, this might be just the thing to help you protect and nurture that #BlackGirlMagic.

Spread Some Blessings!

The consequences of police violence extend far beyond the loss of life. For families affected, it’s the loss of income, the sacrifice of basic necessities, and the start of a high-cost legal fight. If you have the capacity, consider donating to 1M4. Proceeds help support impacted families and sustain the work of 1M4 toward ending police violence for good.

Donations are one of the best ways to support our cause. So, if you’re looking for a place to give this Giving Tuesday, check it off your to-do list by clicking the button above. Or! Ask the company you work for donate to 1M4. After all, all donations are tax deductible 😉
