Transforming Public Safety | 1M4 Founder on Good Morning America
Written by 1 Million Madly Motivated Moms
In a recent Good Morning America interview, Tansy McNulty, the trailblazing founder of 1 Million Madly Motivated Moms, shared her powerful story of leaving the corporate world behind to dedicate her life to protecting Black lives. This isn’t just another story of a woman finding her calling—it’s a call to action for all of us who believe in justice and equity.
Three different black men, three different cities, three different policy depatments, but the same outcome.
Tansy’s journey began in the corporate sector, where she climbed the ladder of success, much like many of us who were taught that our worth was tied to our ability to thrive in the corporate world. But there comes a time when success in the boardroom no longer feels like enough. Tansy felt the weight of the systemic injustices faced by the Black community—particularly the rampant police abuse that has plagued our society for far too long.
Instead of staying silent, Tansy did what few have the courage to do: she walked away from her cushy corporate job, with all its perks and security, to start a nonprofit that would challenge the status quo and fight for change.
1 Million Madly Motivated Moms isn’t just a nonprofit—it’s a movement. Tansy envisioned a world where Black mothers could feel safe sending their children out into society, without the constant fear of them becoming the next hashtag. She knew this wouldn’t happen without a radical transformation in public safety through collective action, legislative policy education, prevention strategies and consistent accountability measures.
The organization’s mission is straightforward but powerful: to protect Black people from police violence by advocating for policy changes that ensure accountability, transparency, and harm reduction. But Tansy isn’t doing this alone. She’s rallying a community of like-minded, madly motivated moms who are done with the lip service and ready to see real change.
